Preparation time: 20 minutes + soaking time
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Recipe ingredients:
2 cup soaked chana dal
1tbsp olive oil
1tsp ginger garlic paste
2tbsp tomato puree
1 small onion finely chopped
Salt to taste
½ tsp red chili powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp garam masala powder
1tsp finely chopped green chilies
1tsp finely chopped ginger
!/2 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
Recipe method:
Heat the oil in a pan. Add the onions and sauté till lightly golden. Add the ginger garlic paste and sauté lightly. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala and 2tbsp water to avoid the masalas from burning. Add the tomato puree. Cook till the oil separates from the masalas. Add the chana dal, salt and 1 cup water. Mix well and cover and cook till the dal is done. The dal should be firm and not mushy. Add more water if required.
Remove from fire. Add the chopped green chilies, chopped ginger and ½ the finely chopped coriander and mix well. Garnish with reserved coriander leaves.
