The all time favorite American style fried chicken

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 kg Chicken, cut into 8 pieces

For the marinade:

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp mixed dried herbs, powdered
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1tsp garlic powder
  • 1tsp onion powder

For the marinade:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1tsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Oil for deep frying

Method:

  1. Add the marinade ingredients to a bowl and whisk together. Add the chicken parts and toss to coat well. Cover with plastic wrap, making sure the chicken is submerged. Refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight if desired.
  2. Mix together the seasoned flour ingredients in a large dish. Drain the chicken pieces well and toss into the flour. Using your hands or tongs, toss to coat the chicken very well with the flour mixture. Shake off the excess flour and reserve the chicken pieces on a plate.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan. Carefully add the chicken and fry for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve hot.
